Both cores are varved throughout their entire length and their age models, which are based on 210Pb and 14C AMS chronologies, are consistent with average accumulation rates of ~1.1 mm/y at both sites. # #-------------------- # Publication # Authors: Miguel A. The trends in the UK'37 index reveal steady SST increases of 1 to 2°C at both sites since the end of the Little Ice Age. Higher-frequency changes in SST indicate a decoupling in the relative intensity of wind-driven upwelling at the two sites. Periods of enhanced upwelling in Guaymas correspond to periods of decreased upwelling in Cariaco (and vice versa). We propose that these contrasts reflect regional differences in the upwelling response of upwelling to changes in the positioning of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the Subtropical High (SH) under current climate conditions. # #--------------------- # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: US National Science Foundation (NSF) # Grant: OCE-0540793, OCE-0315234, OCE-0326313 and OCE-0118349 #-------------------- # Site_Information # Site_Name: BC-43 # Location: Ocean>Pacific Ocean>Eastern Pacific Ocean # Country: # Northernmost_Latitude: 28.0 # Southernmost_Latitude: 28.0 # Easternmost_Longitude: -111.8 # Westernmost_Longitude: -111.8 # Elevation: m #------------------ # Data_Collection # Core_Name: BC-43 # First_Year: 1727 # Last_Year: 1988 # Time_Unit: Year AD # Core_Length: 0.305 m # Notes: Guaymas Basin BC-43 collected June 1990 #------------------ # Chronology # # #------------------ # Variables # # End Description/Documentation (lines begin with #) # Data lines follow (have no #) # Data line variables format: Variables list, one per line, shortname-tab-longname-tab-longname components (9 components: material, error, units, anomaly, period, archive, detail, method, C or N for Character or Numeric data) # Data line format: tab-delimited text, variable short name as header # Missing values null ## depth_mm Depth, , , mm, , , , , N ## age_AD Age, , ,AD, , , , , N ## uk37 Alkenone saturation index, , , , , , , , N ## sst Sea Surface Temperature (C), , , , , , , , N #------------------------ # Data: # Missing Value: NA depth_mm age_AD uk37 sst 2.5 1988 0.903 25.4 7.5 1984 0.897 25.2 12.5 1979 0.902 25.4 17.5 1975 0.903 25.4 22.5 1971 0.899 25.3 27.5 1966 0.905 25.5 32.5 1962 0.913 25.7 37.5 1958 0.908 25.6 42.5 1953 0.928 26.2 47.5 1949 0.928 26.1 52.5 1945 NA NA 57.5 1940 0.925 26.1 62.5 1936 0.920 25.9 67.5 1932 0.912 25.7 72.5 1928 0.914 25.7 77.5 1923 0.915 25.8 82.5 1919 0.913 25.7 87.5 1915 0.916 25.8 92.5 1910 0.917 25.8 97.5 1906 0.911 25.6 102.5 1902 0.909 25.6 107.5 1897 0.912 25.7 112.5 1893 0.915 25.8 117.5 1889 0.913 25.7 122.5 1884 0.902 25.4 127.5 1880 0.908 25.6 132.5 1876 0.908 25.5 137.5 1871 0.905 25.5 142.5 1867 0.954 26.9 147.5 1863 0.896 25.2 152.5 1859 0.893 25.1 157.5 1854 0.912 25.7 162.5 1850 0.917 25.8 167.5 1846 0.893 25.1 172.5 1841 0.901 25.3 177.5 1837 0.885 24.9 182.5 1833 0.904 25.4 187.5 1828 0.901 25.3 192.5 1824 0.906 25.5 197.5 1820 0.890 25.0 202.5 1815 0.900 25.3 207.5 1811 0.896 25.2 212.5 1807 0.902 25.4 217.5 1803 0.896 25.2 222.5 1798 0.878 24.7 227.5 1794 0.889 25.0 232.5 1790 0.864 24.3 237.5 1785 0.862 24.2 242.5 1781 0.872 24.5 247.5 1777 252.5 1772 257.5 1768 0.867 24.3 262.5 1764 0.867 24.3 267.5 1759 0.875 24.6 272.5 1755 0.835 23.4 277.5 1751 0.858 24.1 282.5 1746 0.865 24.3 287.5 1742 0.879 24.7 292.5 1738 0.875 24.6 297.5 1734 0.874 24.6 305 1727 0.864 24.3
