Both cores are varved throughout their entire length and their age models, which are based on 210Pb and 14C AMS chronologies, are consistent with average accumulation rates of ~1.1 mm/y at both sites. # #-------------------- # Publication # Authors: Miguel A. The trends in the UK'37 index reveal steady SST increases of 1 to 2°C at both sites since the end of the Little Ice Age. Higher-frequency changes in SST indicate a decoupling in the relative intensity of wind-driven upwelling at the two sites. Periods of enhanced upwelling in Guaymas correspond to periods of decreased upwelling in Cariaco (and vice versa). We propose that these contrasts reflect regional differences in the upwelling response of upwelling to changes in the positioning of the Inter-Tropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) and the Subtropical High (SH) under current climate conditions. # #--------------------- # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: US National Science Foundation (NSF) # Grant: OCE-0540793, OCE-0315234, OCE-0326313 and OCE-0118349 #-------------------- # Site_Information # Site_Name: MC-4 # Location: Ocean>Atlantic Ocean>North Atlantic Ocean>Caribbean Sea # Country: # Northernmost_Latitude: 10.6496 # Southernmost_Latitude: 10.6496 # Easternmost_Longitude: -64.6607 # Westernmost_Longitude: -64.6607 # Elevation: -432 m #------------------ # Data_Collection # Core_Name: MC-4 # First_Year: 1694 # Last_Year: 1996 # Time_Unit: Year AD # Core_Length: 0.305 m # Notes: #------------------ # Chronology # # #------------------ # Variables # # End Description/Documentation (lines begin with #) # Data lines follow (have no #) # Data line variables format: Variables list, one per line, shortname-tab-longname-tab-longname components (9 components: material, error, units, anomaly, period, archive, detail, method, C or N for Character or Numeric data) # Data line format: tab-delimited text, variable short name as header # Missing values null ## depth_mm Depth, , , mm, , , , , N ## age_AD Age, , ,AD, , , , , N ## uk37 Alkenone saturation index, , , , , , , , N ## sst Sea Surface Temperature (C), , , , , , , , N #------------------------ # Data: # Missing Value: NA depth_mm age_AD uk37 sst 2.5 1996 0.915 25.8 7.5 1991 0.935 26.4 12.5 1986 0.935 26.4 17.5 1982 0.930 26.2 22.5 1978 0.929 26.2 27.5 1973 0.934 26.3 32.5 1968 0.930 26.2 37.5 1963 0.930 26.2 42.5 1959 0.916 25.8 47.5 1957 0.917 25.8 52.5 1954 0.913 25.7 57.5 1952 0.913 25.7 62.5 1949 0.911 25.7 67.5 1944 0.905 25.5 72.5 1940 0.886 24.9 77.5 1935 0.890 25.0 82.5 1929 0.892 25.1 87.5 1927 0.886 24.9 92.5 1924 0.897 25.2 97.5 1921 0.886 24.9 105 1916 0.882 24.8 115 1905 0.891 25.1 125 1894 0.903 25.4 135 1885 0.900 25.3 145 1876 0.926 26.1 155 1866 0.879 24.7 165 1856 0.894 25.2 175 1846 0.894 25.2 185 1836 0.897 25.2 195 1826 0.899 25.3 205 1815 0.898 25.3 215 1805 0.892 25.1 225 1793 NA NA 235 1782 0.891 25.1 245 1770 0.886 24.9 255 1759 0.893 25.1 265 1746 0.891 25.1 275 1734 0.889 25.0 285 1721 0.884 24.9 295 1708 0.902 25.4 305 1694 0.909 25.6
