GEOGRAPHIC REGION: Cariaco Basin, Venezuela PERIOD OF RECORD: 90 KYrBP-present LIST OF FILES: Readme.Peterson2000.txt (this file), 1002_550nm.xls, 1002xrf_24-60ka.xls (Microsoft Excel format) 1002_550nm.txt, 1002xrf_24-60ka.txt (tab-delimited ASCII format). DESCRIPTION: Measured color reflectance in the “green” wavelength (550 nm) of sediments from the upper 36 meters of ODP Hole 1002C (0-90 ka) in the Cariaco Basin (Venezuela), plus bulk sedimentary concentrations of Fe, Ti, and Ca between 24 ka and 60 ka as measured by profiling X-ray fluorescence scanner. Data presented here were used to construct Figures 1 and 2 of the Original Reference. Location of ODP Hole 1002C Latitude: 10 deg 42.73 min N Longitude: 65 deg 10.18 min W Water Depth: 893 m below sea level Variable Names and Units Files: 1002_550nm.xls or 1002_550nm.txt Column 1: Depth of measurement, in meters below sea floor (mbsf). Column 2: Corrected depth, in meters below sea floor (mbsf). Depths here have been corrected for the effects of gas expansion and voids (gaps) in the recovered section. Column 3: Age, in thousands of years ago (ka). Column 4: Percent reflectance at 550 nm wavelength. Column 5: Five-point moving average of percent reflectance data (550 nm) from column 4. Smoothed data in this column were used in Figure 1 of the Original Reference. Files: 1002xrf_24-60ka.xls or 1002xrf_24-60ka.txt Column 1: Depth of measurement, in meters below sea floor (mbsf). Column 2: Corrected depth, in meters below sea floor (mbsf). Depths here have been corrected for the effects of gas expansion and voids (gaps) in the recovered section. Column 3: Age, in thousands of years ago (ka). Column 4: Bulk concentration of Ca, in counts per second (measured by scanning XRF). Column 5: Bulk concentration of Ti, in counts per second (measured by scanning XRF). Column 6: Bulk concentration of Fe, in counts per second (measured by scanning XRF). Methods: See Original Reference for details of age model and analytical information.
