However, it cannot explain the distinct relationships of the EAWM in northern and southern East Asian marginal sea obtained in paleoclimatic records. Here we present an EAWM record in northern East China Sea over the past 300 ka, and a transient climate simulation with the Kiel Climate Model through the Holocene. Both proxy record and simulation suggest anti-correlated long-term EAWM evolution between northern East China Sea and South China Sea. We suggest this spatial discrepancy of EAWM can be interpreted by the El NiƱo-Southern Oscillation (ENSO)-like controlling, which generate cyclonic/anticyclonic wind anomalies in northern/southern East Asian marginal sea. This research explains much of the controversy in nonorbital scale variability of Quaternary EAWM records in East Asian marginal sea, and supports a potent role of tropical forcing in East Asian winter climate change. #------------------ # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: National Natural Science Foundation of China # Grant: 41576034, U1606401, 41622603, 41806055 #------------------ # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: National Program on Global Change and Air-Sea Interaction # Grant: GASI-GEOGE-03 #------------------ # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: China Postdoctoral Science Foundation Funded Project # Grant: 2018M632730 #------------------ # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: Taishan and Aoshan Talents program # Grant: 2017ASTCP-ES01 #------------------ # Funding_Agency # Funding_Agency_Name: Innovation project # Grant: 2016ASKJ13, MGQNLM-TD201805 #------------------ # Site_Information # Site_Name: IODP U1429 # Location: East China Sea # Country: # Northernmost_Latitude: 31.617333 # Southernmost_Latitude: 31.617333 # Easternmost_Longitude: 128.9975 # Westernmost_Longitude: 128.9975 # Elevation: -732 #------------------ # Data_Collection # Collection_Name: IODP U1429 terrigenous MAR Zhao2019 # Earliest_Year: 282200 # Most_Recent_Year: 530 # Time_Unit: calendar year before present # Core_Length: 151.1 # Notes: #------------------ # Chronology_Information # Chronology: Chronology was from Sagawa et al., (2018) #U1429 CCSF-D (m) Age (ka) # 0.22 0.52 # 1.32 3.23 # 2.62 6.44 # 4.12 9.37 # 5.95 12.66 # 8 15.85 # 9.4 18 # 10.53 19.57 # 11.73 21.23 # 12.93 22.89 # 14.13 24.55 # 15.33 26.22 # 16.59 27.96 # 17.94 29.83 # 19.14 32.53 # 20.34 35.33 # 21.54 38.07 # 22.74 39.38 # 23.94 40.7 # 25.14 42.02 # 26.35 43.35 # 27.55 44.67 # 28.75 46.34 # 29.95 48.13 # 31.15 49.93 # 32.35 51.72 # 33.5 53.43 # 34.7 55.35 # 35.9 58.14 # 37.11 60.96 # 38.31 63.75 # 39.51 66.55 # 40.71 69.34 # 41.91 72.14 # 43.14 75 # 44.64 78.68 # 45.99 82 # 47.2 84.67 # 48.55 87.42 # 49.8 89.25 # 54.2 93.43 # 56.91 99.48 # 58.11 102.15 # 59.31 104.83 # 60.51 107.51 # 61.86 111.82 # 63.06 116.79 # 64.26 121.76 # 65.49 126.88 # 66.69 130.88 # 67.89 133.24 # 69.09 135.59 # 70.44 138.24 # 71.34 140 # 72.54 141.86 # 73.74 143.73 # 74.89 145.51 # 76.14 147.45 # 77.41 149.43 # 78.61 151.29 # 79.81 153.15 # 81 155 # 82.21 157.36 # 83.41 159.71 # 84.66 162.15 # 85.91 164.6 # 87.14 167 # 88.34 169.33 # 89.55 171.67 # 90.75 174 # 91.95 176.1 # 93.16 178.21 # 94.28 180.17 # 95.53 182.36 # 97.04 185 # 98.39 188.36 # 99.59 191.36 # 101.06 195.02 # 102.26 198.01 # 103.46 201 # 104.66 203.81 # 105.86 206.62 # 109.09 214.19 # 110.29 217 # 111.49 219.63 # 112.68 222.25 # 113.83 224.77 # 115.04 227.43 # 116.39 230.39 # 117.59 233.03 # 118.8 235.68 # 119.98 238.12 # 126.45 242.14 # 127.6 245.33 # 128.8 248.67 # 130 252 # 131.06 253.88 # 132.23 255.96 # 133.43 258.09 # 134.63 260.22 # 135.83 262.35 # 137.09 264.58 # 138.38 266.87 # 139.58 269 # 140.75 271.68 # 141.95 274.42 # 143.3 277.51 # 144.5 280.25 # 145.7 283 # 146.92 286.74 # 148.12 290.41 # 149.32 294.09 # 150.55 297.85 # 151.72 301.44 # # Tephrostratigraphy # U1429 depth (m, CCSF-D) U1429 Age (ka) Event # 0 0 Core top # 9.4 18 MIS 2 # 18.06 30 AT # 48.26 87 Aso-4 # 71.34 140 MIS 6a # 81 155 MIS 6c # 126.4 242 Ata-Th # 130 252 MIS 8 # 140.09 270.2 Aso-1 # 164.59 339.2 Kkt #---------------- # Variables # # Data variables follow are preceded by "##" in columns one and two. # *** MORE DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS are available at www1.ncdc.noaa.gov/pub/data/paleo/templates/Variable_naming_guide.pdf # variables format: shortname what,material,error,units,seasonality,data_type,detail,method,data_format,additional_information) # ## Depth_CCSF-D depth,,, meter,, paleoceanography,,, N, spliced composite depth below seafloor ## Age_kaBP age,,,calendar kiloyear before present,, paleoceanography,,,N, Benthic Chronology and tephrostratigraphy ## terrig mineral matter,,, percent,,paleoceanography,,,N,Terrigenous matter;
