Compared with the glacial and Younger Dryas, \r\nISM precipitation was enhanced during the Bølling-Ållerød. \r\nISM precipitation was apparently coupled to variations in the \r\nEast Asian monsoon and North Atlantic climate on millennial and \r\nmulticentennial time scales during the deglaciation. Analyses of \r\na high growth rate interval (<2.5 yr resolution) encompassing the \r\nlate Bølling-early Ållerød suggest that multidecadal monsoon \r\nvariability was an important aspect of ISM behavior at that time. \r\nThe frequency spectrum of ISM precipitation during this time \r\ninterval is similar to that of the D14C record and other ISM \r\nprecipitation records during the latest Holocene. This raises \r\nthe hypothesis that multidecadal climate dynamics during the \r\nlate Bølling-early Ållerød may have been similar to those that \r\noperated during the last several millennia, even though the \r\nboundary conditions of these two time intervals were very different.
