Consistent with prior \r\nstudies the synchronized records show that warming (and cooling) \r\ntrends in Antarctica closely match cold (and warm) periods in \r\nGreenland on millennial timescales. For the first time, we also \r\nidentify a sub-millennial component to the interhemispheric coupling. \r\nWithin the Antarctic Cold Reversal the strongest Antarctic cooling \r\noccurs during the pronounced northern warmth of the Bølling. \r\nWarming then resumes in Antarctica, potentially as early as \r\nthe Intra-Allerød Cold Period, but with dating uncertainty that \r\ncould place it as late as the onset of the Younger Dryas stadial. \r\nThere is little-to-no time lag between climate transitions in \r\nGreenland and opposing changes in Antarctica. high-resolution Antarctic ice \ncores spanning the last deglaciation, methane synchronized to the \nGreenland Ice Core 2005 Chronology (GICC05), plus a composite \n(or weighted average) of the five cores. \n\nThe five cores used in the Antarctic deglacial water isotope \ncomposite are: Law Dome, Byrd, EPICA Dronning Maud Land (EDML), \nSiple Dome, and Talos Dome. The data for each core is interpolated \nto 20 year time steps and standardised with respect to its own mean \nand standard deviation over the interval 9000 to 21000 years before \n1950 AD (9-21 ka BP 1950).
