The record is highly correlated \r\nwith satellite-derived temperature reconstructions and instrumental \r\nrecords from Faraday station on the north west coast, thus making it \r\na robust proxy for local and regional temperatures since the 1850s.\r\nWe conclude that the exceptional 50-year warming, previously only \r\nobserved in the northern Peninsula, is not just a local phenomena \r\nbut part of a statistically significant 100-year regional warming \r\ntrend that began around 1900. A suite of coupled climate models \r\nare employed to demonstrate that the 50 and 100 year temperature \r\ntrends are outside of the expected range of variability from \r\npre-industrial control runs, indicating that the warming is likely \r\nthe result of external climate forcing.\r\n","author":null,"citation":"Thomas, E.R., P.F.
