In this technique, the intensity of light scattered at 90 degrees from the meltwater sample is proportional to the amount of dust suspended in the meltwater. The resulting dust profile was then converted from depth to age using the GISP2 depth-age scale (Meese et al., 1997, The Greenland Ice Sheet\r\nProject 2 depth-age scale: Methods and results, Journal of Geophysical Research 102:26411-26423).
