Multi-proxy studies provide another means \r\nof evaluating interpretations of proxies. This paper presents \r\na multi-proxy assessment comparing 19 sub-centennially resolved \r\nlate Holocene proxy records, covering the period 300-1900 AD, \r\nfrom seven Icelandic marine and lacustrine core sites. \r\nWe employ simple statistical comparisons between proxy \r\nreconstructions to evaluate their correlations over time \r\nand, ultimately, their utility as proxies for regional climate. \r\nProxies examined include oxygen isotopic composition of benthic \r\nand planktonic foraminifera, abundance of the sea-ice biomarker \r\nIP25, allochthonous quartz in marine sediments (a proxy for \r\ndrift ice around Iceland), marine carbonate abundance, \r\ntotal organic carbon concentration, chironomid assemblages, \r\nlacustrine biogenic silica and carbon/nitrogen ratios in lake \r\nsediments.
