Resolving this conflict has implications for regulation of poleward heat transport and global climate change. New multidecadal-resolution foraminiferal oxygen isotope records from the Gulf of Alaska (GOA) reveal sudden shifts between intervals of synchroneity and asynchroneity with the North Greenland Ice Core Project (NGRIP) d18O record over the past 18,000 years. Synchronization of these regions occurred 15,500 to 11,000 years ago, just prior to and throughout the most abrupt climate transitions of the last 20,000 years, suggesting that dynamic coupling of North Pacific and North Atlantic climates may lead to critical transitions in Earth's climate system.","author":{"name":"Praetorius, S.K. and A.C. The data for Neogloboquadrina pachyderma sinistral (Nps) and Globigerina bulloides (Gb)  for each of the three core sites is tabulated in separate excel sheets, along with the composite records on the original and tuned age models. Data is listed as depth in core. The age controls based on the calibrated radiocarbon dates and the age controls for the tuned age model are listed in separate excel sheets. No tuning was applied to the age model of EW0408-85JC for the composite records presented here. Marine reservoir ages applied to the Marine13 radiocarbon calibration are 595 + 50 yrs for EW0408-66JC, 735 + 50 yrs for EW0408-26JC, and 800 + 50 yrs for EW0408-85JC. Data from core EW0408-85JC are previously published in Davies et al. (2011). The d18O of core EW0408-66JC was corrected with an offset of +0.3 o/oo from 4-11 ka and +0.4 o/oo from 11-13.5 ka in order to adjust for differences in the d18O of seawater (related to salinity) between sites. Data was linearly interpolated on a 25 yr timestep to make the composite records. \r\n      Provided Keywords:  North Pacific, deglacial, abrupt climate change","version":"1.0","xmlId":"65674"}
