Lake Marilyn High, Tasmania - AUSL022 Additional Site Information Brendan Buckley and Edward Cook. Detrend method: Smoothing spline Purpose of Collection: Climatology - temperature analyses Only core samples were taken from this remote site in the Frenchman's Cap wilderness of western Tasmania in 1994. The collection party included Buckley and Cook, along with Garn Cooper, Annie Wong, Kathy Allen and Rob Wilson. We cored 14 trees at LMH, taking at least 2 cores per tree. The cores are currently archived at the TRL of Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory in Palisades, New York. Reference: B.M. Buckley, E.R. Cook, M.J. Peterson and M. Barbetti, 1997: A changing temperature response with elevation for Lagarostrobos franklinii in Tasmania, Australia. Climate Change. 36:477-498. This site was sampled for Buckley's PhD research ("Climate Variability in Tasmania Based on Dendroclimatic Studies of Lagarostrobos franklinii", University of Tasmania, 1997.). The chronology used a two-step standardisation procedure outlined by Cook and Peters (1998, The Holocene) where the variance is stabilised by power transformation before detrending. Indices are generated by residuals instead of ratios method. Detrending is a 500 year spline with a frequency response cutoff of 50.
